Pool Problems

Cloudiness

If your water looks weird, something probably is weird. Cloudy water can be caused by early stages of green algae growth, chemicals that are out of balance, poor filtration or external contaminants like sunscreen.

Water out of balance?

Step 1

Try backwashing your filter or clean the filter media itself.

Step 2

Check your skimmer basket for debris and clean if necessary.

Filtration in flux?

Step 1

Open your app for the latest WaterGuru SENSE for pH and low chlorine measurements. If they’re out of balance, WaterGuru SENSE will show you precisely how to get them back on track.

Step 2

Wait 24 hours and test again. You should be good to go.

Contamination situation?

Step 1

Empty your skimmer basket.

Step 2

Skim or vacuum all debris from your water.

Step 3

If the water does not clear when running your pump 24 hours or waiting 3 days, then use a clarifier or flocculant to improve filter performance.

Preventing Cloudy Water

Step 1

Run your pump 8 hours per day.

Step 2

Follow the water chemistry recommendations specific to your pool from WaterGuru advice.

Step 3

Clean or backwash your filter as needed (typically when pressure rises by 10 PSI or at least once a season).

Step 4

Make sure all your jets are pointed downward to ensure a good circulatory pattern.
